Karishma Porwal is a storyteller, educator, and CommunicationsManager focused on making sustainability accessible and practical.She guest lectures at universities such as Wilfrid Laurier and Western,facilitating thoughtful discussions on environmental topics, andappears on CTV’s Your Morning as a resident eco-expert. Through herprofessional and media work, Karishma highlights sustainabilityinitiatives and contributes to informed conversations onenvironmental issues.

Meet Our Mentors

Nya Lazarus-Munnick is a Program Manager at Skills for Change and sustainability professional dedicated to equity-centered climate action. With a Master of Science in Sustainability Management, she specializes in building strategic partnerships and community-led programs that bridge the gap between environmental goals and social impact.
Saba Khan serves as Co‑Founder and Director of Community Outreach at EnviroMuslims, leading initiatives that empower the Canadian Muslim community to embrace sustainability. Her work is driven by a commitment to elevating diverse voices in the environmental sector and advancing equity, social justice, and inclusion.
Christine Tu is the Director of the Office of Climate Change and Energy Management at the Region of Peel, where she oversees the 10-year Climate Change Master Plan and the development of the region’s Sustainability Strategy. Named one of Toronto’s Top 50 Women Leaders (2023), she brings extensive experience from the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and is committed to advancing climate action while mentoring future leaders.
Cheyenne works on Environmental Education and Waste Management initiatives at the Region of Peel. She merged her Communications background with her interests in Circular Economy design to pursue a career in Environmental Education. She is also the founder of XINA, a platform that aims to challenge the global textile waste crisis through slow, circular fashion and upcycling.
Papiya Roy, PhD, EP® is an environmental and climate change specialist with over a decade of experience advancing climate adaptation, mitigation, and sustainability initiatives across government, research, and consulting sectors. In her municipal work, she has led climate strategies, supported greenhouse gas reduction efforts, and helped deliver large-scale sustainability initiatives and events. Passionate about mentorship, Papiya is dedicated to guiding emerging professionals and strengthening the future of climate leadership.
